Just had to tell you how much I enjoyed the salmon cakes. I subbed in some homemade whole wheat breadcrumbs for the panko, but otherwise followed the recipe to the letter. Very easy and a nice change for using up leftover salmon. I served them with a soy/sesame oil/vinegar dipping sauce and some Thai sweet chili sauce and they were a big hit.
I’m sitting on my Toronto balcony with my hand up yelling, “me too! Me too!” I saw your post about Malivoire the other day (maybe that was on IG?) and was like, “hey! I know those guys!”
Anyway, I delight in the Canadian content. #cancon
Introduce me to a new friend. I liked the cute dog Sogo, and I liked your picture that expressed the beauty of the human spirit when it is in harmony with the beautiful nature ❤️❤️❤️
Gorgeous post, Colu. Also, I still love terrestrial radio, too! When I went to college in Burlington, Vt, CHOM from Montreal was the station of choice, really great.
oooh these cakes sound good! might try and make them with the family when we're in north idaho next month and can use some of my dad's alaskan-caught salmon!
Hi Colu- I’m a Nova Scotian living in a large North American city. These photos are so beautiful.
The clam is a quahog- it’s a different species. The Miqma’q people have eaten it forever ( I have had it kind of braised over a fire- I don’t love it) and the shells are used to make wampum. Wampum belts are a very important legal object for treaty making between Indigenous and non Indigenous peoples since before contact. The purple parts of the shell are particularly valuable in making contrast. It’s a really important shellfish for all of us treaty people.
Welcome to Canada! (back I’m assuming - I’m a newer subscriber but know you from NYT Cooking) Your salmon recipes sound delish! Glad you’re enjoying the music mix and of course, glorious Eastern Canada! I live on the Prairies but loved my two visits to New Brunswick and Prince Edward Island. It would be great to get to Nova Scotia and Newfoundland & Labrador as I’ve been lucky to visit to all of our other Provinces and three Territories. Only NS and NFLD are ones I haven’t been to. ❤️🇨🇦

Thank you dear, Jolene! It's the best, right? I too love Montreal stations. I will sometimes put them on in Hudson!
So glad Sugo is a beach pup! Thanks for the playlist, living in Canada briefly in the 80’s I had quite a crush on Gino Vanelli!😂❤️❤️❤️
We too are very pleased! I will say Chad had a hand in that playlist, so you know it will be good. GINO! xoxo
