Beautiful writing. Loved the part about "the best meal." Chops looked so good and eating with your hands...sometimes the best way to eat something with a bone. Safe travels home.
Glad you are safe. We live in a forest of trees in central NC and poplars are the main trees that fall during storms--ice, tropical storm/hurricane leftovers. I love them in the fall, but hate that they fall. 😬 Good luck with your cleanup!
This made me so weepy...God bless those Poplars...and rest assured new things are growing beneath the surface. Regardless, I am so sorry for the loss...I'm so happy I got to meet them:)
I’m so happy you got to meet them too. I found this online and know you’ll find it as wonderful as I do.
“The poplar is often referred to as the "tree of the people" from its Latin name Populus, as it was under poplar trees that important decisions where made. According to European tradition, this tree is the connection to "the Other World", to the cyclical life of souls, it is the tree of melancholy and the memory of the dead... Moreover, for the druids, the poplar tree symbolized the old age of man due to its white leaves. But the poplar is likewise associated with hope and the promise of revival. It is therefore the ideal retirement gift or for someone who is about to begin a new chapter in his/her life.” ❤️❤️
