Ok. I don’t cook. I’m here for the sass and the fun (and to lure others to cook up your 🔥❤️🥘).

How can I not be a mooch and contribute otherwise?! Favorite cooking playlist into dinner tunes or any boozey bevies a not-a-mixologist can keep turning?

Signed,

Oven Hopeless

I love your recipes so much! I am also so obsessed with your picnic snack dinners that you make from leftovers you refer to in your cookbook. I always want something green with dinner or it’s not a meal. I do get tired of a green salad every night or steamed broccoli in the winter. I am curious what one of your favorite go to quick green ideas is or how you might add some excitement to these two staple plates?

Thank you!

I make a ragu for my lover every few months. What could be more romantic than ragu?? It’s become a bit of a tradition, and my last ragu was kind of a fail, so I need to really hit it out of the park this time. Favorite ragu recipe!? Also favorite pasta shape for eating with ragu 👀👀

Two extremely opposite questions bc you contain multitudes :) ! What’s your trashiest and most indulgent snack? AND what do you make for dinner when you don’t feel like cooking but also want to be healthy?????

Thank you for this! My fiancé and I absolutely love your recipes and gone through most of them BUT a slight hitch- he can’t eat seafood, so we’ve skipped the ones that feature seafood (which there are so many exciting ones in easy fancy food!) Do you have suggestions for substitutions so even he can enjoy them? thank you 🧑🏻‍🍳

Colu, thank you so much. You are most generous. I’m so glad you’ve been enjoying Death & Birds—it’s a bit niche! But I’m so happy to have you on board. And to have you breathing life into my culinary attempts...

Very excited for your AMA answers, too!! Thank you, again 💗

I have never slow roasted any meat item (roasted chicken doesn’t count) and every time I think about doing it I’m so intimidated, even though people say it’s easy. Do you have advice on the best cut to start with -- for, say, a fall dinner with friends? And the easiest/best way to do it? Explain it like I’m 5 years old!

I have so many questions! Do you have a go-to bottle of wine that you like to bring to friends/hosts/etc.? Or do you have any tips for buying wine at a store? Like how to pick a good bottle of wine? I am so often lured by the aesthetics of the label, and it doesn't always pan out. Or do you prefer ordering wine online? I feel like I'm at the point where I'd love to have a few cases of wine on hand that I really like, that I have in a pinch when I need a gift as opposed to the last minute scramble I always find myself in, racing to the wine store before it closes. Thank you, Friend!

I need a dish that will be universally enjoyed by the omnivores in my family. I maintain a restricted diet which can best be described as whole food and plant based. In my cooking I do not use salt or sugar. I keep my oil to a very minimum. Under these restrictions my family rarely eat the dishes I make. To find a main course that is whole food and plant based without salt and sugar is hard enough but to make it universally enjoyable to my family is the key. I am asking for your top suggestion under these conditions.
