Welcome to Colu Cooks, a companion to my recently released (second) cookbook, Colu Cooks: Easy Fancy Food and video series. I’ve worked in food for over 15 years and have learned what resonates with home cooks by creating elegant and approachable recipes without overthinking it.

Colu Cooks was named one of the best books of the year by NPR and The National Post. My first book, Back Pocket Pasta, was published in spring 2017 and was also named one of NPR's best books of the year.

I’m here to inspire home cooks to make simple, yet sophisticated dishes you’ll feel proud of. I also love telling stories through food and about the people I’ve chosen to surround myself with and the places I’m lucky enough to visit, so you’ll see some of that here too. I’ll also be sharing things that I think should be on your radar, because if I like them, I’m confident you will too. Oh, and we’re on the midst of restoring an 1866 farmhouse in Nova Scotia, so you’ll be getting some house updates!

My writing and recipes have appeared in publications such as Food & Wine, The New York Times, Vogue.com, Food52, AFAR and more.

Why Subscribe?

There are two versions of my newsletter: One is free and comes out every other Wednesday. Free subscribers receive recipes, recommendations and occasional essays.

Paid subscribers get an additional email from me every other Sunday. You’ll hear twice from me in a week! These posts include extra recipes, first looks at my videos before the go live to the world and more. You’ll also have access to me in other ways free subscribers don’t. We’re working on exactly what that means over here at CCHQ.

I truly appreciate you being here. Your support means I can continue to develop recipes, write stories, produce content you’ll enjoy and do what I love most - share my love of food with you all.
