Happy Sunday dear friends,
The crickets outside are singing their afternoon song, but I just received a frost warning for this evening. Tomatoes are still ripe on the counter and the gifted pattypan squash look at me longingly asking me when I will use them. I don’t know the answer. It’s a complicated time, although “I do love a shoulder season,” she’s says as she swats away a mosquito. Truthfully though, this time of year has always made me melancholy - the death of a season, a grieving of sorts, another soft layer shed.
Lately, I’m eager to eat things in bowls, read more books, go to bed a little earlier and not drink as much wine. We’ll see how long this lasts, I’m hoping for a bit. In the meantime, this makes you the recipients of my, let’s call them, “quieter meals.”
This recipe is more of a “soupy noodle” than a full on slurpy soup. I hope that makes sense?
