I’m just back from having a lovely client in town from the west coast and taking meetings all over NYC. No recipe this week as I was working very long days and not in my kitchen much. It’s a joyful challenge to bring you shiny, new dishes and act as if they flowed right out of me. They don’t! They take time, research, consideration, ingredients and tweaking to make them feel effortless and this week, I don’t got it to give. I hope you understand. I’m sorry. New recipe coming soon and it’s a good one!
In lieu of delivering something “half baked”(sorry I had to), here are some things that have sparked joy as of late.
- started a very cool new newsletter called The Vintage Table where she rounds up incredible tableware finds from places like Etsy and eBay. Right up my alley and yours too I bet!
This very newsletter was feature in the lovely Esther Mobley’s newsletter in the SF Chronicle all about my love of Duralex glasses! This is cool on so many levels. Thank you, Esther!
Speaking of glasses… Drinking wine outside!
popped over last minute Wednesday eve and it was warm enough to sit in the backyard. What a gift! This is Domaine Balansa rosé is a lovely bottle to open. These new, Sezane Georgia sunglasses make me feel like Bridget Bardot - if only. I also got these shoes and can’t wait to wear them with jeans and a white blouse this spring!
Reading! Dolly Alderton’s book Good Material - such a gift. Ghosts is also brilliant.
The viral “protein” bagels. I made them, they are so easy and so delicious. I used a combination of cottage cheese and Greek yogurt. You can sub with oat flour to make them GF. If you want my recipe, drop it in the comments, happy to share.
My friend
wrote last week about her love of leopard print jackets and I couldn’t agree more. I anchored my NYC trip wardrobe around this vintage cape. The bag from Tory Burch has vintage vibes and streamlined the look. I’d file this under ’s “wrong shoe theory,” which I just learned about on this trip. The shoes were picked (out of necessity) before I knew the theory. I get it!
I also ate a slew of incredible restaurants. If you’re going to NYC soon, please check out the following!
Ataboy: Not new, but I’ve been wanting to go for some time. An incredible, rotating Korean menu with top notch service. I’d go back in a heartbeat.
Leon’s: Nick Anderer’s new spot in USQ and sister restaurant to Anton’s. The soaring space is beautiful and bright, showcasing elegant Italian food and a great wine list.
Thai Diner: Also not new, but I finally got to go! It was incredible. Highly recommend the Roti and the Duck Tapioca Dumplings, oh and the Uncle Boons Famous Coconut Sundae - hot damn!
Corner Bar: A perfect spot for happy hour and french fries and Champagne at the bar with girlfriends. That’s what we did!
Tolo: Insanely delightful new Chinese restaurant by chef by Ron Yan. Blown away by the Hong Kong Prawn Toast with Sweet Chili and Little Rice Noodles with XO Sauce. The wine list is curated by Parcelle, so you’re in good hands…
OK, that’s all for now! I’ll be back in the kitchen and into your inboxes in no time.
Have a good rest of your weekend.
With love,
Cx
