Thank you to everyone who joined our Thanksgiving Hotline today! It was so meaningful to connect with you. I’ll be posting some highlights, but in the meantime, you can read it here! Also, a big warm welcome to all of you new subscribers out there - I'm so happy you’re here.
In lieu of our traditional format, however still incredibly relevant and helpful for the upcoming holiday, I’ve partnered with my wildly talented friend, author and creative director Leigh Patterson for this week’s special installment. Leigh is the founder of Moon Lists, which offers analog tools, prompts conversations, and shares resources to inspire new ideas, to help reshape the present, & to (re) define your own perspective. She also has a wonderful Substack The Moon Lists, which I highly recommend you subscribe to.
Leigh really does such a beautiful job of making you think about things from different angles and gets you out of your own head a little bit. I find her prompts incredibly meditative. And, this week, she has put together some especially for you all! I am so grateful. Thank you, Leigh!
And while food and recipes will always remain at the core of this newsletter, I do believe it extends to the conversations we’re all having around the table. Although, after this weekend, I do believe some are best to have before one consumes too much wine…
Whether you’re spending Thanksgiving with friends or family, these helpful prompts can be used any which way you see fit. I hope you enjoy them and find them as helpful as I do.
Prompts for Talking Turkey
By Leigh Patterson
Because the thought of holiday table conversations may or may not elicit existential dread…a list of questions to spark or guide conversations in new directions at this year's gatherings. These are meant to offer a kind of tasting menu for whatever scenario you find yourself in: some low balls for when you’re walking on eggshells…and a few more expansive options for a willing audience.
1. TRADITION OF MY MAKING
Describe a self-created ritual that you adore — either centered around the holiday season or perhaps part of daily life
2. CRANBERRY CONVICTIONS
Present a case for what is inarguably (to you) the ultimate holiday ingredient, appetizer, and/or beverage—particularly something specific to the season.
3. IT’S ALL GRAVY
What’s feeling easy right now? Where are you finding abundance & growth naturally occurring?
4. SOUFFLÉ AS ATTITUDE
Contrarily, what challenges are you embracing—a new skill or hobby? An intellectual endeavor? A…mindset?
5. COOKIE CUTTER
Describe a time or moment when you ‘reinvented’ yourself this past year.
6. COMING HOME
In the last year, how has your idea of home changed? Or perhaps: is there a memory or instance from the last year that personifies the feeling of ‘home’ to you?
7. ADD (PUMPKIN) SPICE
What’s something you want to mix up or do differently in the season to come?
8. CULTURAL CORNUCOPIA
Make a list of what’s on the front burner of your cultural intake: any books, films, songs, artworks, TV shows, podcasts, etc. that really are representing right now?

I hope you enjoyed this break from our regularly scheduled programming. I know I did.
Please let us know if and how these prompts inspired conversation next week. Or if you have any of your own. We’d love to hear.
Have a beautiful rest of your week.
With love,
Colu x
XOXOXO
This is all so lovely, thank you! We have friends from the US in London for Thanksgiving so we're going to go all out in order to avoid any homesickness, and I cannot wait to use the prompts! 💗
